Butter Substitute for Corn-on-the-Cob

Written Sat 21 Sept 1996

My husband cooked me supper tonight...I'm so glad he did! We
had corn-on-the-cob with the most *amazing* sauce. He's not
too hot on quantities but here is the rough recipe:

1 tsp cider vinegar (or white wine vinegar)
1 tsp honey (if you don't eat honey, try 1 tsp brown sugar)
1 dash "liquid smoke" or to taste
1/2 tsp soy sauce
tiny pinch of bouillion powder or crumbled stock cube

Combine in a bowl and heat in microwave to dissolve honey/sugar.
Or combine in a small pan and heat gently. Mix well. To serve,
put your corncob on the plate and drizzle over sauce. Eat like
when you were a kid and had it with butter and salt. MMMMMMMM!!
My hubby's a genius!

Liquid smoke was slightly discussed here a while ago. Brand
name is "Figaro"...not too expensive, a little goes a long way,
very delicious.
