"Chow-chow" is a spicy sweet cabbage relish originating, like kudzu, in
the South. Legend has it that, like fruitcake, there is actually only one
jar of chow-chow. When you are going on a wild weekend to Memphis with
your cousin DeeAnna Rae, and you have told your mama (and DeeAnna Rae's,
who are sisters) that you are just running up to rush Kappa Kappa Gamma,
your mama will make you take The Jar of Chow-Chow with you, to give to her
sister.
