Disinfecting sprouts

The following article was in my HealthCentral.com newsletter this morning.
The complete article includes the information that even homegrown sprouts can
be dangerous and should be disinfected. It contains no information on the way
to do that. I grow my own sprouts and I was wondering if anyone here does
also and disinfects their seeds/sprouts.

Last year, the US FDA warned consumers of the potential health risks
associated
with eating raw sprouts after numerous cases of Salmonella food poisoning
were
linked to contaminated sprouts. "We are still recommending that consumers who
wish to reduce their risk of food-borne illnesses avoid sprouts," said Dr.
William E. Keene of the Oregon Health Department.
