If something asks for a cup of oil I use a cup of applesauce.
When you ask what to do if the item is not sweet in nature, do you mean if
you're making something (like perhaps bread) that's not supposed to be sweet
or do you mean something else? In the above case, use the same amount of
applesauce as it calls for oil, it's not sweet enough to make any noticible
difference.
